Lyla meets Grandma Bell

Grandma Bell got to come home from her mission for Grandma's service too. What a blessing it was for her to be able to see her little grandbabies while they are so new.

Grandma with Noah

Lyla meets Cousin Noah

The cousins meet! Holly and Noah arrived today from Maryland. We did not expect to get to see each other so soon, but our dear sweet Grandma Rostad passed away unexpectedly on Sunday. We will miss her so much. Holly and Noah have come for her service.

Here's the cutie getting clean.

Lunch with Dad at Work

Mom and Lyla dropped in to visit Dad at on his lunch break.

Lyla was introduced to Maynord, Nick's new class pet...a big healthy bearded dragon he adopted from a student. Our family keeps growing!

Hello Dad!

This is our first day at home without Dad! :( ...so Lyla wanted to say hello.

Nick's paternity leave is over and we girls are left at home to fend for ourselves. Nick has been an amazing support. Mom's recovery has been easy with him around to take care of everything possible. THANK YOU!!! He is a great dad, showering his little girl with love and attention. What a fun journey we have begun!

Sorry for the sideways filming!

Fluffy Clean Hair

We finally decided to give this kid a bath. Here she is getting her hair washed in the sink...happy as can be.

Check out this video of her fluffy clean hair!

Field trip to Lowell Park

With such beautiful weather we decided to take a field trip down to the Snohomish River. We walked several miles and Lyla slept most of the time. It was still great to get out and about and enjoy the sunshine, flowers, and smells of Spring!

Social Saturday Night

Well Auntie Katlyn is about to turn 18 and I got a chance to get out of the house with Mom and Dad to visit family. I got passed around to all my new relatives and once again Bella the bulldog was quite curious about me. She's all up in my face, but I don't think she will hurt me, just wants to sniff me and lick my feet.

Awake Time

Saturday morning after Dad and I cooked Mom's French Toast breakfast we played on the floor for a while. This gave me a chance to do my pig noises while I root around on my belly. Dad also thought it would be nice of me to get to know Pooh bear and the kitty. They aren't very talkative though, so I didn't tollerate them being in my personal space very long.

Secret Weapon

This face is one of a devious little squirt. She will attack with the only weapon she has. Until now, that weapon was a secret, but as Nick found out it has significant range and is quite alarming. Lyla had just napped for about 3 hours and then as Dad was changing her, she fired projectile poo and got a direct hit on Dad's left sleeve. Her remaining ammunition was emptied onto the waterproof pad--perhaps she was only warning Dad of things to come.

Field Trip to the Beach

Wednesday was Doctor day again. Lyla gained weight and is up to 7lbs 13oz--all good. After our stop at the doctor we went to get groceries and then took a quick trip to Mukilteo Beach. We got out but it was a bit cold, so Lyla wasn't having it. Maybe when the weather gets warmer and the wind isn't so cold we'll return with the kite, even if she can't see that far, maybe we can attach her to it for a few laughs.

Outside with Dad

Dad took her outside to help her calm down from a crying fit. With the sunlight on her face, she immediately settled down. I love that the first smile we captured was because of the sunshine!

Taking it easy with Mom

Hanging out at home

Aunt Katie and Uncle Nathaniel came by for a visit. Katie stayed for the day and helped with cleaning and cooking...thanks KT!!!

Lyla also took a long nap on Uncle Mark. She has developed the bad habit of ONLY sleeping if she is resting on someone. We have tried the crib several times and all we get is a lot of "squaking", as dad likes to say. As soon as Mom can get up and about more easily we will devote more time to helping her break this habit.

First Doctor Trip

We survived! Despite a prick on her heel for the PKU test, Lyla didn't cry a bit and Dr. Jane Lester at the Everett Clinic was quite pleased with her health. She weighed in at 7lbs 3oz, a normal decrease after getting out of the "hot tub." She is a little yellow, but nothing to be worried about quite yet since we've increased feedings to every two hours (a bit tiring, but worth it.)

Recent Visitors

Yesterday, Gramma and Papa visted and shared some time with Lyla. She was awake a fair bit of the time, but did sleep on them plenty too. It was fun to see the excitement of new Great Grandparents with our little Angel. Em found time to have the most peaceful rest ever snuggled with Lyla. Alec and Lisa also came by in the evening with an amazing lasagna meal and stayed for a visit. It was great to visit and eat so well!
